GM to Invest $600 Million in Fairfax Plant and Keep 4,000 Jobs
Sadly in the current language of multinational corporations operating in the ailing U.S. economy and its largely jobless recovery, the investment will not create any new jobs but keep 4,000. For this taxpayers of Kansas, according to The Kansas City Star approved $120 million in revenue bonds last September to subsidize the new paint shop. Continue reading

Reality Versus Concept as Production Accord Photos Released
The ninth generation Accord, a perennial top seller in the family car category faces unprecedented competition from the Toyota Camry – the best selling car in the U.S. and all new last year – a revised Nissan Altima, and the Hyundai Sonata, as well as the Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Malibu, among others. GM Adding 2,500 Jobs in Michigan to Build Malibu, Impala
General Motors said today that it is adding two shifts and about 2,500 hourly and salaried jobs at the Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant to build the new Chevrolet Malibu mid-size sedan and the next-generation Impala large sedan. Continue reading

New 2013 Chevrolet Malibu to be Built in Hamtramck, MI
Starting in 2012 in the U.S., Malibu will be built at GM’s assembly plant in Hamtramck, Michigan, which is currently producing the Chevrolet Volt and will soon start making the Opel Ampera. This leads us to speculate that a hybrid version of the Malibu is in the works. What happens to the Fairfax, Virginia plant that currently builds the Malibu remains to be seen. Continue reading
Driving Impression – Chevrolet Cruze
Chevrolet is finally replacing its aging Cobalt with the Cruze sedan, which is already on sale in more than 60 countries in Asia and Europe since 2009. The new Cruze is a design hybrid since its engineering was done at Opel in Germany and Daewoo in Korea. North American versions went into production at Lordstown, Ohio this summer. Continue reading
