Nissan Recalls NV Vans for Shift Indicator Safety Defect

Nissan is recalling all of its NV vans built from the start of production in 2010 until this past January because the transmission shift indicator, aka PRNDLin auto slang, can point to the wrong gear. Nissan Recalls Popular 2013 Models for Bad Passenger Airbags

Nissan is recalling numerous 2013 model Altima, Leaf, Pathfinder, Sentra, and Infiniti JX35 vehicles because the passenger side airbag is defective. Sensors within the so-called passenger Occupant Detection System may have been manufactured out of specification for several months. This may cause the system to malfunction and permanently suppress the passenger airbag on some of Nissan’s most popular vehicles. Continue reading →

Nissan Recalls Infiniti M45 for Bad Electronic Gas Gauges

In the pre-Toyota cover-up fines from NHTSA, it appears that Nissan ignored the safety problem and warranty data. In the post Toyota fine era at NHTSA, the number of recalls from Japanese makers, not coincidentally, has accelerated dramatically.

This is the sixth major Nissan recall since the fall. Earlier recalls involved Nissan and Infiniti gasoline leaks, oil leaks, sudden stalling on Sentra models, Juke turbocharger boost sensors, and defective Rogue electric power steering control computers. Continue reading →

Autoliv Side Curtain Airbag Recall Grows – Now Includes Nissan, Subaru, Toyota, Honda and Acura Vehicles

What was an old munitions plant in Utah now owned by global auto supplier AutoLiv is sending shock waves into auto plants around the world because the side curtain airbag inflators it made are defective. The charge that releases the compressed gas that inflates the airbag may not explode during an accident, thereby rendering the airbag ineffective. Factories in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Japan and China are affected by the growing recall. Continue reading →

Nissan Recalls Power Windows on 370Z and Infiniti G37

A computer programming error is responsible for a Nissan recall of 2011 and 2012 model 370Z sports cars and Infiniti G37 coupes. The computer program for the window controller of automatic electric windows in incorrectly calibrated so that the window may not “auto reverse” its travel if something is caught in the upward motion. Nissan Recalls Altima Sedans for Defective Suspension
