Nissan Motorsports & Customizing Co., Ltd. (7201T and NSANY ADR) together with Nissan Oceania, say they have a multi-phase plan to expand the NISMO brand’s presence in Australia. This will improve local access to authentic NISMO parts, accessories, heritage support, technical expertise and so-called customer experiences.*
“NISMO represents one of the most authentic expressions of Nissan’s passion for performance, innovation and customer excitement,” said Ivan Espinosa, President and CEO, Nissan Motor Company. “As we advance our long-term vision of mobility intelligence for everyday life, we will continue to deliver new experiences to our customers. The expansion of the NISMO brand in markets such as Australia is an important step in bringing exciting experiences to customers who value performance and authenticity,” Espinosa claimed.
The plan starts with the creation of NISMO Performance Centers in Australia, making the market one of the first outside Japan to bring NISMO Omori Factory expertise closer to local customers.
These centers will provide a direct link to NISMO’s Omori Factory in Japan, support advanced vehicle restoration programs, and be staffed with factory-certified NISMO Meisters backed by NISMO’s global expertise.
The first local NISMO Performance Center is targeted to open at Nissan Ferntree Gully in Victoria in the second half of 2026, with additional locations to be announced.
The announcement corresponds with the visit of Yutaka Sanada, President and CEO of Nissan Motorsports & Customizing (NMC) and global head of the NISMO brand, to Sydney ahead of this weekend’s GT‑R Festival.**
“NISMO’s global expansion is about bringing the brand closer to customers in the right markets, with the right products, services and experiences. Australia is a natural priority because of its mature performance culture, strong GT‑R community and clear appetite for authentic NISMO heritage, performance parts, technical expertise and motorsport-driven experiences,” Sanada said.
The visit comes at a critical time for NISMO, following the brand’s announcement in December 2025 of a global expansion strategy. This includes plans to grow its restoration, resto-mod and parts businesses, initially focused on the Nissan Skyline GT‑R (R32, R33 and R34). More vehicles and regional programs will follow. Nissan Motor Company is fighting to survive in the current global trade and tariff wars environment.*
The broader global strategy will see the NISMO brand expand its footprint into more markets, increase its model lineup, evolve beyond traditional sports cars into new segments, and reinforce Nissan’s “track to road” approach to motorsport-derived innovation.
