Restricted Sale of Genesis GV60 EV Starts Today at $60,000

The GV60 will be offered in two packages in the United States. Initially, the 2023 Genesis GV60 will only be sold at some Genesis retailers in California, Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York. GMC Brand Extension – 2023 Yukon Denali Ultimate

The 2023 Yukon Denali Ultimate trim “elevates” the GMC sub-brand it’s claimed. “Distinguished with exterior and interior details, next-level materials, innovative available (optional, bring money- Autocrat) technologies and impressive capability, the new 2023 Yukon Denali Ultimate is the most premium Yukon ever offered.” AutoInformed guesstimates the elevated price will be just under ~$100,000. Green Autonomous Mobility at Michigan State University

The Spartan bus completed on-campus testing, which did not include written college admission tests. More than 650 test runs of its route during all hours of the day helped make the official deployment possible. As part of the process to accept passengers, validation of the bus, route and infrastructure was granted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It appears to be the first and only SAE Level-4 automated bus that has NHTSA approval. Continue reading

Milestones – Production Begins for Ford F-150 Lightning EV

Ford Motor, whose existence was tenuous during the Great Recession, is now the top automaker in America in terms of 2021 production, sales of US-made vehicles and employment of hourly autoworkers. The F-150 Lightning is the only full-size electric pickup available now with a starting price less than $40,000. Ford F-Series has been America’s best-selling truck for 45 years running and is second only to the iPhone in revenue among all American consumer products, according to a 2020 study. Continue reading

‘Entry Level’ Mercedes-AMG SL 43 4-Cylinder?

The SL 43  is a 2+2-seater with fabric soft top and, ahem, a 2-liter inline four-cylinder gasoline engine rated at a combined fuel consumption 9.4-8.9 l/100 km with combined CO2 emissions of 214-201 g/km. In the new SL 43, materials used include aluminum, magnesium, fiber composites and steel, from which the windscreen frame is made, for example. This serves as roll-over protection in conjunction with the roll bar system behind the rear seats, which pops up when needed. Continue reading

GM, Honda to Develop New EVs for Sale in 2027

The business justification for the expansion of GM Honda collaboration has increased in urgency since yesterday’s release of the latest UN report on Greenhouse Gases. It said that greenhouse gas emissions must peak by 2025 at the latest, and then drop by more than 40% by the end of the decade to limit global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius compared to pre-industrial levels. Toyota and ChargePoint to offer Home, Public EV Charging

The Toyota bZ4X is the first of a global series of battery-electric vehicles to be introduced under the “Toyota bZ” brand umbrella. Other partners in the green juggernaut now under full sail include BYD, Daihatsu and Suzuki. Toyota plans to introduce 15 BEV models by 2025, including seven new BEV models of the Toyota bZ series. The Toyota U.S. lineup in total, accounts for more than 40% of all alternative powertrain vehicles sold in the U.S. – including battery electric, hydrogen fuel cell electrics, hybrids and plug-in hybrids. Volkswagen Debuts ID.Buzz and ID.Buzz Cargo

As with other models of Volkswagen’s all-electric family, the new ID.Buzz and ID.Buzz Cargo are based on the Group’s Modular Electric Drive Kit (MEB). The MEB is a scalable large-production-run platform. It provides the basis across the brands for different models and segments. At present, 30% of the few electric vehicles in the Group are based on the MEB. By 2025, it’s planned to be more than 80%. For Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, the all-electric ID.Buzz is a building block to help reduce the carbon footprint of the whole product portfolio. Continue reading
