Ford Recalls Mavericks, Escapes, Mach Es, Transits, Broncos

Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) is recalling more then ~52,000 vehicles for a variety of quality problems according to mandatory safety defect recall filings  made public the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) this morning. Ford is operating under a consent order from NHTSA because of its previous handing of recalls.

The largest recall announced today involves 2025-2026 Mustang Mach E vehicles. The Chinese-made [Zhe Jiang Keboda Industry Corp – AutoCrat] Light Driver Control Module B (LDCMB) may fail, preventing the turn signals, daytime running lights, low beam, and high beam headlights from illuminating. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”

“A faulted Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) component within the LDCMB prevents the module from rebooting, resulting in the LDCMB not communicating on the vehicle’s Controller Area Network (CAN) bus. Root cause of the faulted NVM component remains under investigation,” Ford said in the recall filing. “Drivers will receive an “Advanced Front Lighting Feature Temporarily Unavailable” warning in the instrument panel cluster. Additionally, the turn signal indicator will flash at an increased rate (‘fast flash’) in the instrument panel cluster when the turn signal is commanded,” Ford said.

Ford said it will release an over-the-air (OTA) update or dealers will update the LDCMB software, free of charge as required by Federal safety regulations. Interim owner notification letters explaining the safety risk are not expected to be mailed until January 30, 2026. Another notice will be sent once the remedy becomes available, anticipated April 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford’s number for this recall is 25C71. Ford is also recalling ~6897 model year 2025-2026 Maverick vehicles. The instrument panel cover may separate when the air bag deploys. Dealers will replace the instrument panel cover, free of charge as required by Federal Safety Regulations. Interim owner notification letters explaining the safety risk are not expected to be mailed until 19 January 12026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated February 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford’s number for this recall is 25SE7. Ford is also recalling 2022-2024 Maverick Hybrid and 2020 Escape Hybrid vehicles. The Hybrid Powertrain Control Module (HPCM) software may cause the vehicle to shift into neutral unexpectedly, causing a loss of drive power. Dealers will update the HPCM software. Owner notification letters are not expected to be mailed 30 January 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford’s number for this recall is 24S33. This is an expansion of NHTSA Recalls 24V330 or 24V-330 (24S33) and 25V133 or 25V-133 (25S16).

Ford is also recalling 2 model-year 2022 Transit vehicles previously repaired incorrectly under NHTSA recall number 22V183 or 22V-183. The rearview camera supplied in the Rear Video Camera and Prep Kit will not function when installed by the final stage manufacturer (upfitter), resulting in a blank rearview image. Dealers will update the audio control module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are not expected to be mailed 23 January 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford’s number for this recall is 25S68. Ford is also recalling 35 model-year 2021-2022 Bronco vehicles equipped with 8-inch SYNC infotainment screens that were previously repaired incorrectly under NHTSA recall number 23V165 or 23V-165. The rearview camera image may still be displayed after a backing event has ended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, “Rear Visibility.”

Dealer will update the SYNC module software, free of charge as required. Owner notification letters not are not expected to be mailed 6 February 6, 2026.
