Latest Toyota Recall is for Prius, Lexus HS 250h Hybrids

Chrysler Balks at NHTSA Jeep Recall Request
Chrysler Group is defying the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s request that it recall 2.7 million Jeep models because of allegedly unsafe fuel systems. Covered under the now public dispute over fuel system integrity are 1993-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2002-2007 Liberty models. Continue reading

Ford Motor Recalls 465,000 2013 Models for Fuel Leaks
In a statement provided at AutoInformed’s request, a Ford spokesperson said that it first became aware of the fuel leak defect because of warranty data – more than 600 consumer complaints – but declined to name the supplier of the defective delivery module in the tank. Continue reading

Chrysler Group May 2013 U.S. Sales Up 11%
Chrysler Group today reported U.S. sales of 166,596 units, an 11% increase compared with sales in May 2012. It was the Fiat controlled group’s best May sales since 2007. Jeep, Dodge, Ram Truck and Fiat brands each posted year-over-year sales gains in May compared with a year ago. Year-to-date, Group sales are up 9% at more than 752,000 vehicles. Continue reading

April EU Commercial Vehicle Sales Up Slightly. YTD off -7.6%

May U.S. New Vehicle Sales Projected at 12.5 m SAAR
New vehicle sales in May are projected to be about 1 million retail units higher than one year ago, resulting in a seasonally adjusted annualized rate or SAAR of 12.5 million. This is the highest annual rate since January of 2013, and May, if the forecast is accurate, will be the third consecutive month with retail sales in excess of 1 million. Relatively affluent new vehicle buyers are taking advantage of cheap interest rates as the Federal Reserve continues to print money in a desperate attempt to revive a sluggish economy where 16 million people remain unemployed or under-employed because of the ongoing effects of the Great Recession. Recall for Wheels Falling Off 2013 Cadillac SRX Crossovers
GM is recalling 2013 Cadillac SRX crossovers with 18-inch wheels because the lug nuts loosen and some wheels are falling off. The lug nuts are coated with a blue-tint Teflon coating that allows them to loosen. If this happens, a grinding or rattling noise can occur, and a vibration is felt in the steering wheel. If ignored, the wheel studs fracture sending the wheel on its own way. Continue reading
