Family Car Wars Revived as Nissan Ships New 2013 Altima
Nissan has started shipping the new 2013 Altima, its best selling mid-size car and longstanding contender in the family car wars. The all-new 2013 Altima, which has been produced at Nissan’s Smyrna Vehicle Assembly Plant in Tennessee since the first generation rolled off the line in 1992 is now also produced at Canton, Mississippi because of the high volumes involved. Altima will take on the reigning champion – Toyota Camry revised this year, and the upcoming new Honda Accord in a battle royal. Continue reading

NHTSA Probes GM Electric Power Steering Sudden Failure
Complicating matters for General Motors is the EPS system used in those vehicles is the same as that used in 2005 -2010 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 models. In March of 2010, GM recalled more than 1 million of them to fix a defect with the EPS assist motor. Continue reading

General Motors to Build New Chevrolet Malibu in Korea
Korea ranks at the very bottom — 30 out of 30 among the largest automotive markets — for auto import market access. The average among major developed economies is approximately 40% market penetration by imported automobiles, but in 2006 in Korea, the total of import vehicles from all global manufacturers in all countries entering the Korean market was around 3.6%. This is about 40,000 vehicles in a market that buys roughly one million vehicles annually. Continue reading
