Silverado, Sierra Software Recalled for Botched Older Recall
This pre-launch EBCM software contains a potentially deadly error. If the pickup is started remotely using the OnStar mobile app or the driver enters the vehicle and waits five or more minutes before starting the vehicle using the ignition, this software error can disable the vehicle’s electronic brake assist and illuminate the ESC, ABS and BRAKE warning lights. FCA US Recalls More Than 107,000 Diesels for Engine Fires
Thus far no fix is proposed even though the company is aware of four injuries related to the safety defect. In the required NHTSA filing, FCA says it has identified 61 field reports potentially related to EGR cooler failure. Total EGR cooler warranty replacements is 8,909. Continue reading

However, the dealers were “unaware” that the units did not comply with U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, including for headlamp beam patterns, illuminated side markers, horizontal adjustments and U.S. Department of Transportation markings.
