Dedicated IndyCar Game Coming from iRacing Studios

IndyCar and iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations today announced a long-term licensing agreement for iRacing Studios to produce standalone IndyCar titles for consoles and PCs. As part of the agreement, iRacing Studios will release an IndyCar title for PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam in the second half of 2026. Newgarden Leads Final Indy 500 Practice

Josef Newgarden led the final practice for “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” with a top lap of 225.687 mph in the No. 2 Shell V-Power NiTRO+ Team Penske Chevrolet. Newgarden is trying to become the first driver to win three consecutive Indy 500s. However, due to the Team Penske Cheating Scandal, he’ll need to do it from the 33rd starting spot. Newgarden and Team Penske teammate Will Power were moved to the rear of the field Monday due to a modified attenuator on their respective cars that violated IndyCar rules Sunday during PPG Presents Armed Forces Qualifying. The record for the deepest starting spot of a “500” winner is 28th, by Ray Harroun in the inaugural race in 1911 and Louis Meyer in 1936. Continue reading →

IndyCar – Penske Fires Senior Leadership Team

Team Penske announced today the departures of IndyCar Team President, Tim Cindric, IndyCar Managing Director, Ron Ruzewski and IndyCar General Manager Kyle Moyer from the organization. The move comes from the turbulence created by an aerodynamic cheating scandal during qualifying for the 119th Indianapolis 500.

“Nothing is more important than the integrity of our sport and our race teams. We have had organizational failures during the last two years, and we had to make necessary changes. I apologize to our fans, our partners and our organization for letting them down,” said Roger Penske, who owns the IndyCar Series and the Speedway. Continue reading →

Team Penske, Chip Ganassi Racing Rule 1st Indy Practice

Team Penske and Chip Ganassi Racing dominated the opening day of practice for the 109th Indianapolis 500 yesterday. Practice started two hours, 32 minutes late due to intermittent rain and damp track conditions, and the session ended 32 minutes early due to lightning strikes within the vicinity of the 2.5-mile oval.

The 2018 Indianapolis 500 winner Will Power led a Team Penske 1-2 on the speed charts in a weather-shortened session at 227.026 mph in the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet. The hot lap occurred in the last 30 minutes of practice. Two-time defending “500” winner Josef Newgarden was second at 226.971 mph in the No. 2 Shell V-Power NiTRO+ Team Penske Chevrolet. Road America Kill – Palou and Honda Dominating IndyCar

The Brickyard – Honda vs Chevy at Indy 500 Sunday

Perhaps even more so after today’s “Carb  Day,” which used to be a practice session to allow teams to adjust, ahem, carburetors. Chip Ganassi Racing continued its May dominance as Tony Kanaan was the fastest overall and led three of the team’s drivers in the top four of the 2.5-mile lap chart Friday. The 2013 Indy 500 winner Kanaan’s top lap in the 90-minute session – shortened and started two hours late due to morning rain –  was 227.114 mph in the No. 1 The American Legion Chip Ganassi Racing Honda. Penske’s Newgarden, Pagenaud One-Two in 2019 IndyCar

Newgarden gave team owner Roger Penske his 16th series championship, including the fourth in the last six years. Chevrolet Wins Accident Marred Portland Grand Prix

It was a Black Weekend for professional motorsports with the death of Anthoine Hubert, who died on Saturday during a horrific accident involving several cars after he went off course at Circuit Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium. Pagenaud Driving a Chevrolet for Penske Wins Indy 500

It truly was a Memorial Day Classic, having survived Tony George’s best attempts to kill the race with the ill-fated Indy Racing League fiasco. Nonetheless, the series, which used to dominate the sports pages during May is now only one racing event alongside the F1 Monaco Grand Prix (Lewis Hamilton in a Mercedes-Benz) and NASCAR’s 600-mile Charlotte race (Martin Truex in a Toyota won). Aussie Will Power Wins the 102nd Indianapolis 500 for Penske

Penske has done far better than Chevrolet with 17 victories in the run for the Hoosier milk, which Power spilled all over himself, the parade Queen and others in the winner’s circle.
