Toyota Adopts the Tesla North American Charging Standard
Toyota and Lexus customers will have access to more than 12,000 Tesla Superchargers in North America. Toyota and Lexus will incorporate North American Charging Standard (NACS) ports in some new Toyota and Lexus battery electric vehicles (BEVs) starting in 2025 to eliminate the need for what are sometimes awkward adapter plugs in AutoInformed’s experience. Toyota Motor North American Sales in March and Q1 Drop 9%
“With 22 electrified vehicle options between both the Toyota and Lexus brands, the most among any automaker, we’re giving customers a choice that fits their lifestyle, pocketbook and needs,” said Jack Hollis, executive vice president, sales, TMNA. “We continue to make improvements to our vehicle inventory to satisfy customer demand, while doing all we can to exceed expectations as we introduce more electrified vehicles throughout the balance of 2023,” Hollis said. Toyota Motor North America 2022 Sales Drop Notably
“As the industry closes out 2022, we’re expecting the year to end around 13.9 million SAAR. And for 2023, we’re predicting a SAAR to grow to approximately 15 million. And while we still have many of 2022 challenges carrying into 2023, we’re moving in the right direction, and doing whatever we can to get vehicles to our customers as quickly as possible. Toyota Motor US Sales off -31% in December, +10.4% in 2021
Based on early sales reports, TMNA was the leading seller of electrified vehicles for the 22nd consecutive year with electrified powered vehicle – hybrids, plug-ins and fuel cells – at 583,697or +73.2% in 2021. EPV sales now make up one-quarter of total volume. There now are 18 total EPVs available in dealerships between both the Toyota and Lexus brands, the most among any automaker, with two more in showrooms by middle of 2022. Continue reading
