Mercedes Benz said today that at its Technology Center in Sindelfingen, Germany, CEO Ola Källenius is testing the new Mercedes-Benz GLC with EQ technology.* In the latest YouTube video by Mercedes‑Benz, Källenius teases the model series. He previewed its design, capabilities, and handling. In previous videos, Ola Källenius drove the electric CLA and electric G-Class in the landscapes of Austria and Sweden, offering a sneak peek ahead of each vehicles’ world premiere. The new electric GLC, will be unveiled at Munich’s IAA motor show on 7 September 2025. Once upon a forgotten time this would have happened at the Frankfurt Motor show.
“The biggest product launch program in our company’s history continues with the all-new GLC. We’re not just introducing a new model – we’re electrifying our top seller. It will feature a bold new design language, cutting-edge technology, our MB.OS operating system and performance that sparks excitement. The all-new GLC is comfort, dynamics, efficiency and intelligence in perfect harmony and it’s ready to be revealed at this year’s IAA,” claimed Källenius, who is also Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG.**
Optional AIRMATIC air suspension technology
The electric GLC has an optionally available Agility & Comfort Package that includes the so-called AIRMATIC air suspension paired with rear-axle steering, which allows up to 4.5 degrees of steering angle in each direction. Be it on city streets or highways, the GLC offers outstanding stability, dynamic performance, and highly agile handling. This air suspension technology is from the S‑Class. “Uneven road surfaces and imperfections are almost completely absorbed, ensuring a remarkably smooth ride. The integrated adjustable damping system, familiar from the S‑Class, provides the ideal combination of ride comfort and sporty handling,” Mercedes said.
More Room
The new GLC has more legroom and headroom for both front and rear passengers. The wheelbase, which is 3.1 inches longer compared to the current combustion engine-powered GLC, “contributes to a spacious cabin and comfortable ride.” The trunk provides 20.1 cu. ft .of space, and when the rear seats are folded down, it expands to 61.4 cu. ft. The so-called frunk (front trunk) provides an additional 4.5 cu. Ft. of cargo space, accessible via touch control.
EV Tech
The highlight of the new electric architecture is the 800-volt system. This technology optimizes efficiency and performance, “significantly reducing charging times when combined with the latest battery generation. In just ten minutes—about the time it takes to grab a coffee or check your emails—approximately 260 kilometers (WLTP) of range can be charged.1 DC fast charging at over 320 kW is possible. Country-specific, a DC converter enables the use of 400-volt charging stations,” Mercedes said.
Towing Capacity Up
The GLC 400 4MATIC with EQ technology – which launches first – has a towing capacity of up to 5291 lbs. (braked). The 220-lb tongue weight allows for the transport of electric bicycles among other gear on a suitable carrier. With ESP® trailer stabilization and trailer maneuvering assistant, the GLC is said to offer convenient and stable handling when towing.
Inside, Mercedes‑Benz says is an “elevated design language that continues to create a holistic experience. The majestically floating next generation MBUX Hyperscreen, optionally available, offers an impressive spatial experience and digital elegance, with intuitive features powered by the intelligent MB.OS supercomputer.”
