Nissan Chairman Carlos Ghosn Arrested and About to be Sacked by Board for Financial Misconduct. Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance Position Threatened.

Ghosn as chief executive of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance is now under fire. Ghosn retired from the highest job at Nissan last year, but remained heading the world’s largest automotive alliance, saying he planned on staying until 2020. Renault Profits Climb to €583 Million despite Eurozone Crisis

Renault posted a profit of €583 million in the first half of 2013 in the face of the Eurozone crisis. The unexpected positive increase of 15% in earnings compared to last year came as Group revenues of 20,441 million dropped – 0.9% compared to the first-half 2012. Nissan to Build $2 Billion Plant In Aguascalientes Mexico

The announcement comes as the United Auto Workers union is developing plans to once again try to organize transplants in the United States, where Nissan has two other plants. The UAW has been unsuccessful in previous organizing attempts, and its lack of international alliances with other unions is a decided disadvantage.The lack of exports from UAW organized Detroit Three plants is preventing the creation of middle class jobs in the U.S. – now clearly the issue in the upcoming presidential election. Nissan Announces Ambitious Global Growth Plan

Things are going to get better during the next five years for Nissan Motor Company, the Yokohama based automaker announced this morning. In unveiling what is an ambitious six year business plan, Japan’s number two automaker said that it will deliver on average an all-new vehicle every six weeks for six years. As a result, the company’s global portfolio will have 66 vehicles and will cover 92% of all markets and segments, Nissan claimed. Continue reading

Renault Group Reports +15% Revenues, Record Sales in Q1

Ghosn reaffirmed the company’s €500 million cash flow target for 2011, but because of uncertainties caused by the Japan earthquake and ongoing production stoppages, Ghosn refused to increase his forecast for the year even though Q1 sales was well ahead of plan.
