Various Ford and Lincoln Recalls for Sudden Engine Failures
Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) is recalling 2021-2022 Bronco, F-150, Edge, Explorer, Lincoln Nautilus, and Lincoln Aviator vehicles equipped with either a 2.7L or 3.0L Nano EcoBoost engine. The engine intake valves may break while driving, which can result in engine failure and a sudden loss of drive power.
Based on an analysis of returned fractured valves from failed engines, Ford identified that the potential root cause of the failures was engine intake valve failure due to valves that exceeded the designed specification for hardness, were brittle, and more likely to fracture. Ford determined that this was due to the supplier’s grinding processes and the sensitivity of the intake valve material to grinding processes that were not within control specifications. The intake valve material was changed for vehicles produced after 31 October 2021. The new material increased the valve’s robustness to keeper groove grinding processes outside of control specifications. Continue reading

Six New Ford Motor Recalls on Various Safety Defects
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration released today information about six more Ford Motor Company safety defect recalls covering a vast array of design, engineering, manufacturing and software defects.
Problems, some of them life threatening, include power windows, engine fires, windshield wipers, failing rear suspension knuckles, loss of steering, and body as well as powertrain control modules. NHTSA Campaign Numbers include: 24V590, 24V591, 24V593, 24V594, 24V597, 24V598. Continue reading

Recalls – Ford E-350, E-450 with Dual Rear Wheels
Ford Motor Company is once again recalling model year 2021-2022 E-350 and E-450 vehicles equipped with dual rear wheels. A bad connection between the power steering pressure line and the brake-hydro boost unit can cause a sudden loss of power steering fluid, according to documents made public today by The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This is a modification of a previous recall on the trucks, NHTSA 22V-089, Ford Field Service Action 22S08. These vehicles are often used as buses. Continue reading

Ford Motor Recalls – Restraints, Lightning on I Million Vehicles
Ford Motor Company is Recalling ~1 million vehicles for safety defects according to documents made public today by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). In the largest recall, dealers have been told by Ford “DO NOT DEMONSTRATE OR DELIVER any new in-stock vehicles involved in this safety recall. A complete Dealer Bulletin will be provided to dealers 4th quarter, 2023 when it is anticipated that parts ordering information and repair instructions will be available to support this safety recall.” Continue reading

Ford Offers Free Pickup, Delivery and Mobile Service To All
The nationwide program is part of Ford’s commitment to improve the ownership experience by providing convenient, seamless options for vehicle service, from simple oil changes to recall repairs. Recalls have been infecting Ford Motor products for years. During 2022, Ford Motor led all makers in recalls with 67 totaling more than 8.6 million vehicles, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Ford Motor Recalls 2.9 Million Vehicles for Rollaways
Ford Motor Company is recalling more than 2.9 million 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The Hilex-supplied bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach causing unexpected rollaways.
