Honda Prepares 2014 Endurance Racing Engines
Honda will field a factory team in Formula One, but will not compete directly in endurance racing against Toyota, which has been racing hybrid cars in the fastest most expensive P1 class for two years now against Audi, which has dominated endurance racing in recent years with diesel cars. Things will get more interesting when Porsche returns to endurance racing next year. This is not for the slow or under financed because there are competitive privateer teams from Porsche, Ferrari, Aston Martin and Chevrolet Corvette. Continue reading

Silverstone Classic – Record Crowds, Largest 911 Parade Lap
The 2013 Silverstone Classic claims to the world’s biggest classic motor racing festival now that the results are in. The three-day show this past weekend in the UK said attendance of 90,000, up from 83,500 in 2012 was a record. The 24 vintage races with 1113 historic racing cars covering nine decades of motorsports, also is claimed to be a new world record. Continue reading

Acura NSX Prototype at Mid-Ohio Race in August
Acura today released a photo of a prototype NSX sports car, and said that the running two-seater will take to the racetrack just prior to the Honda Indy 200 IndyCar Series race at Mid-Ohio on 4 August. NBC Sports will broadcast the race live. Continue reading

Renault Revives Alpine with First Le Mans Entry in 35 Years

Nissan to Return to Le Mans in 2014 as Garage 56 Entry
In 2012, a number 0 Nissan Delta Wing ran at the world’s most famous endurance race from the same unclassified Garage 56 spot. U.S. Sues Lance Armstrong for False Racing Sponsorship Claims
From 1996 through 2004, the USPS sponsored a professional cycling team owned by Tailwind and its predecessors. Between 2001 and 2004 alone, the Postal Service paid $31 million in sponsorship fees. (Imagine how much could be recovered only the Justice Department went after its friends at the Wall Street firms, banks and ratings agencies that cost taxpayers billions upon billions of dollars because of false claims in the sub-prime mortgage business.)

Toyota Racing Shows 2013 Le Mans Hybrid Racer
Toyota Racing unveiled a revised TS030 Hybrid car that will lead the team’s quest for victory in the Le Mans 24 Hours and the FIA World Endurance Championship this season. The first full test of the 2013 car will begin at Paul Ricard in southern France tomorrow. In a hard fought Le Mans race in 2012 marred by accidents, two Audi diesel hybrid P1 cars took first and second at the 24 hours of Le Mans, with another Audi in third. Toyota, though it did not finish in its first le Mans race with a hybrid, provided a strong challenge to Audi with its two hybrids and posted some of the fastest racing laps. Continue reading

Toyota Hybrid in First Win Beats Audi in Six Hours of Sao Paulo
A Toyota hybrid turned in a dominant performance at the Six Hours of Sao Paulo this weekend going from the pole to first place during the fifth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship. It was the first overall win this year for the new hybrid racing team, which challenged Audi’s clear dominance in endurance racing by showing up at Le Mans last June, a year ahead of announced plans.
