DOT adds Protections for Air Travelers Abused by Airlines
The rulemaking finalized today grows from passenger protections issued by the U.S. Department of Transportation in December 2009, which prohibited U.S. airlines operating domestic flights from permitting an aircraft to remain on the tarmac for more than three hours. That rule stopped almost overnight a common abuse of passengers by 16 of the largest U.S. airlines. Continue reading
NLRB Issues Complaint against Boeing for Unlawfully Moving 787 Airline Work to A Non-Union Facility in South Carolina

EU Proposes Banning Cars from Cities. Automakers Protest
The European Commission today adopted 40 initiatives that it claims will increase mobility, dramatically reduce Europe’s dependence on imported oil and cut carbon emissions from transportation by 60% by 2050. Laser Attacks on Airplanes Double in 2010
The Federal Aviation Administration announced today that the number of laser strikes on airplanes in 2010 nearly doubled from the previous year to more than 2,800. This is the highest number of incidents since the FAA first began keeping track of this new safety threat in 2005. Continue reading

Atlanta Airport TSA Employee Handcuffs, Rapes Woman
A Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employee at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International airport handcuffed a woman, sexually assaulted her and then committed suicide.
