Annals of Marketing – Camaro ZL1 Garage 56 Edition
“Even though Chevrolet has been racing since its inception in 1911, we’ve never done anything quite like Garage 56,” said General Motors President Mark Reuss, who in AutoInformed’s direct experience losing to him on a track, is quite an accomplished driver himself. If he can sit through interminable corporate meetings, we bet he could run Le Mans, but he isn’t driving. Continue reading
Ford Claims F-Series Retains Title of Best-Selling Truck in 2022
However, since Ford’s Edsel and Mercury brands are long gone and Lincoln is not in this segment, there is room to debate that General Motors with it Chevrolet, GMC and Hummer pickup lines might sell a greater number of pickups when final sales numbers are in. This also means that Ford Maverick, Ranger, F-150, Super Duty, all the way up to F-750 should also be included in the competitive tally. Continue reading

Dealers who enroll in the so-called CLEAN program have agreed to follow CDC guidelines and to use Environmental Protection Agency-approved cleansers in connection with the cleaning of their facilities, including high-traffic areas, and the cleaning of new, used and serviced customer vehicles. Dealers who enroll in the program have committed to following the CDC guidelines and practices upon enrollment. They should not inject or drink bleach of course. Continue reading
Honda Fastest in Practice for Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix
Driving the No. 27 NAPA AUTO PARTS Honda, Rossi navigated the bUmPy street course at Belle Isle Park in 1 minute, 15.1367 seconds (112.595 mph) to record the best lap among the day’s three practice sessions. As an aside, Belle Isle would have reverted to an urban slum garbage dump if not for racing sponsorships and some deft behind the scenes maneuvering by the Penske family. Continue reading

Three Peat! Corvette Takes Makers’ and Drivers’ Titles in IMSA GT Le Mans at Road Atlanta Season Final
The real stars of the 10-hour race was a clear in class win by the No. 911 Porsche GT Team Porsche 911 RSR and co-drivers Nick Tandy, Patrick Pilet and Frederic Makowiecki. In the ‘luckless but fast category,’ Chip Ganassi racing put in a fast performance only to see the #3 Corvette sister car, the # 4 Corvette C7.R of Oliver Gavin, Tommy Milner and Fassler, hold off (it looked to be legal moves at AutoInformed and the stewards based on provisional results) the No. 67 Ford GT in the final hour to secure a second consecutive championship for the #3. 2017 Tigers or is that Kittens Ready for Home Opener
The home opener at Comerica Park is Friday, when the Tigers take on the Boston Red Sox. Ugh, you might remember a RHP named Porcello, the 2016 American League Cy Young award winner with the Red Sox who we blithely traded. Then there’s Mad Max Scherzer who barbecues batters with a different kind of slider Continue reading

Alan Batey Named Global Head of Chevrolet
In a convoluted position that likely resulted from GM insider politics and bureaucratic infighting, in his global Chevrolet role, Batey will report to GM Chairman and CEO Dan Akerson; in his U.S. Sales, Service and Marketing role, he will report to Mark Reuss, president, GM North America. Continue reading

Chevrolet and Prince Fielder Give Kids a Pro Baseball Field
Prince, of course, benefited from the Tiger’s family-friendly policy of playing on the Tigers field and taking batting practice and coaching as a kid when his father, Cecil, was tearing the cover off the ball in Detroit. Sort of takes some of the fear out of it when a pitcher is trying to stare you down, if as a kid you’ve been in the cage in a big league park looking at fastballs curves, sliders and brushbacks. General Motors U.S. April Sales Down 8% in a Growing Market
General Motors Co. (NYSE: GM) today reported April sales of 213,387 vehicles in the United States, a decline of 8% in a month that looks to be running at more than 14 million units on a seasonally adjusted basis, an increase of at least 12%. Buick one again posted a decline, this time -25% at 15,450 vehicles, with the mid-size Regal off -37% at 2,850. The compact and less expensive Verona sold 3,000 sedans. This begs the question whether Buick in particularly, perhaps General Motors overall, has been too aggressive in raising prices to boost profitability. The brands aren’t strong enough and the competition remains formidable. Once again Chrysler posted a 20% sales increase to 141,000 vehicles in April, and my bet is GM and Ford are where the growth is coming from to a large degree. Continue reading

Don’t quit your day (and night) baseball jobs, guys… Continue reading
