Toyota Recalls Rav4 and Highlander SUVs for Bad Airbags
Toyota has been aware of the problem since October of 2007, and changed the software in new vehicles in 2008, and yet did not recall the defective vehicles. Truck Underride Guards Fail in Crashes so IIHS Wants New Rule
In 2009, 70% of the 3,163 people who died in all large truck crashes were occupants of cars or other passenger vehicles. Underride crashes makes death or serious injury more likely since the upper part of the passenger vehicle’s occupant compartment typically crushes as the truck body intrudes into the vehicle safety cage. Chevrolet Recalls Cruze for “Steering Wheel Detachment”
GM reported to NHTSA that upon investigation it was discovered that an incorrect steering wheel was originally fastened on the steering column of the Cruze during assembly. When the mistake was discovered, the wheel was removed and replaced but the steering wheel was not properly fastened to the column. The worker apparently left the bolt out. Continue reading
Volkswagen Recalls 71,000 Jetta Sedans for Sudden Stalling
All Jetta models made in Mexico from March of 2010 unit March 21011 – an entire year of production – have a fuse box design that runs the engine management system, horn, wiper blades and theft alarm through one fuse. If the fuse blows for any reason, the engine quits without warning. Continue reading

Honda Recalls 2011 Odyssey Again. Window Glass Can Shatter
American Honda is recalling 2,800 model-year 2011 Odyssey vehicles in the U.S. to replace the side window glass in one or both of the front doors. It was the second Odyssey recall of the month, following an earlier one to replace a front windshield wiper linkage rod that could break. Continue reading

Continental Tire is recalling 390,657 tires installed on Ford F-250 and F-350 heavy duty pickup trucks in the U.S. About 65,000 trucks are potentially affected by a tire tread separation defect – the same problem as the infamous Firestone tire recall on the Ford Explorer that dominated headlines a decade ago. Another Computer Software Glitch as GM Recalls 2011 Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac SRX Models for Failed Defrosters
General Motors is recalling 2011 model Buick LaCrosse sedans and Cadillac SRX crossover models because the software in the electronic climate control module may prevent adjustment of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system settings. When this happens, the driver will not be able to control the heating, cooling, and ventilation for the vehicle. Decreased visibility can result in an accident. Continue reading

Toyota Recalls Trucks For Tire Pressure Monitor Defect
About 22,000 trucks are affected in the U.S. and had optional wheels with LT tires instead of the standard P-metric tires installed during truck manufacturing in California, Indiana and Texas. Either Toyota vehicle processing centers or Toyota dealers could have switched the wheels and tires. Continue reading

Chrysler Recalls Town & Country and Dodge Caravan Minivans and Dodge Journey SUVs for Abrupt Engine Shut Offs
