Governors Cuomo, Whitmer Call for Investigation Into Trump Administration’s Politicization of Pandemic Response
“It is an inarguable fact that the United States has had the worst response to the COVID-19 virus of any nation in the world. Nearly 7 million Americans have tested positive for the virus, and more than 200,000 Americans have been killed by it — both more than any other country. The unprecedented and unacceptable scale of this tragedy is the direct result of President Trump and the federal government’s deceit, political self-dealing, and incompetence, they said. This in effect echoes the “we hold these truths to be self-evident” language of Thomas Jefferson who despised despots who ruled for their own personal gains. Continue reading
California to Subsidize 51 Shell Hydrogen Sites
Socialism for the rich once again. Too bad the CEC doesn’t require some ownership for the capital it is providing. Worse, the Trump misadministration is proposing to roll-back desperately needed methane regulations. Methane, a product of oil drilling is currently burned at the well by flaring. EPA said in the past that over 100 years, methane is estimated to have a global warming potential that is 28 to 36 times that of CO2. Continue reading
This Grim Picture is Not Worth a 1000 Corona Deaths
The United States accounts for 22% of the Global Corona Virus Deaths with a mere 4% of the world’s population. Fear the Trump Administration if you care for your own o ranyone else’s health and safety. Continue reading
Making America Poor Again
The Depression Version Trump 2.0 sees The AP’s Business team chronicling the changing economy, “from the difficulties faced by people who have lost their jobs to how businesses are adapting to the new reality. We are using data and interviews with experts, officials and people affected to understand which changes are temporary and which ones are likely to permanently alter the ways we live and work.” Continue reading
4 July 2020 – We Hold These Truths to be Self-Evident
Jefferson, rightly regarded as the clearest, most eloquent writer, created what remains one of our core documents. It simply states that all of us equals could work at Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. This of course led from our Articles of Confederation, to our Declaration and thence to one of the finest organizing documents of the 18th or any other century – our Constitution Continue reading
Noose Found Hanging in NASCAR Garage at Talladega
A noose was found hanging in Bubba’s garage where the #43 Petty Motorsports car with Black Lives Matter displayed over the rear wheels was serviced for the running of the crowd less Talladega Superspeedway race. This just a fortnight after NASCAR banned the traitor’s Confederate flag at all its events. Continue reading
NASCAR Finally Bans Confederate Traitors’ Flag at All Races, Venues and Properties
I know that if you ask NASCAR about what it has actively done to integrate the sport and its businesses over the decades – once you get past the self-interested ticket sales of its minority policies – and the deeds are sparse. Continue reading
Thanksgiving 2019 – We Celebrate Our 399th Annual Feast
It was a war that was won – against all odds by militias, and irregulars eventually forcing a standing British Army to surrender in the field for the first time since the tyrant Napoleon – because the Crown and its privileged generals were fighting an idea first put forth in our Declaration of Independence, then codified in our Constitution that “We the People” would govern ourselves. Now, once again, the courtiers of privilege and wealth are presiding over our fate. Continue reading
Fourth of July 2019 – Time to Rid Ourselves of Despots Again
Some – but not enough of us – are marching once again in the spirit of 1776. We need once again to rid ourselves of what has evolved into a ruling class of our own home-grown tyrants, bigots, racists and traitors who collude with other oppressive, anti-American governments. We have progressed from 2.5 million people to more than 325 million with a gross domestic product of more than $19 trillion – an unimaginable number of teabags for a protest not to clutter Boston Harbor, but the halls of Congress today. Continue reading
Trump Backs Down on Mexican Import Taxes. Declares Victory by Solving His Self-Created Crisis for American Workers
Automakers, farmers, the equity markets and his normally sycophantic Republican party were all protesting the reckless move. Thus adding to the need to reverse the very course that Trump had set. Continue reading
Trump Mexican Tariffs – Negative on Prices, Economy and Jobs
The Center for Automotive Research, where I am a vice president, estimates that a 5% tariff rate would increase the price of an average new vehicle built in the United States by at least $250. At a 25% tariff rate, U.S.-built vehicle prices would rise at least $1,100. Vehicles imported from Mexico would see sharper price increases — at least $1,100 at 5% tariff rate and at least $5,400 if the tariffs were ratcheted up to 25% by this fall. Overall, the tariffs would reduce U.S. gross domestic product by at least $7 billion to $34 billion annually and cause the loss of 82,000 to 390,000 U.S. jobs. Continue reading
Trump Tariffs on Mexico – Job Destroying Taxes on Workers
Ultimately, prices on models imported from Mexico could increase by $8500. Factoring in parts for assembly in the US, the average price of all vehicles sold in the US could rise by as much as $2,500-3,000. the substantial increase could lower sales by 500,000-1.5 million units annually. Continue reading
If Trump Closes the Mexican Border, the Entire U.S. Auto Industry Shuts Down in Days
There are few vehicles assembled in the United States that do not rely on Mexico for at least some parts content. Vehicle assembly is the quintessential “complete set” — an assembly plant cannot build a partial vehicle. Even if a few relatively minor parts are missing, automakers do not make a practice of storing the vehicles and then repairing them when the parts are ready. This repair work alone creates the potential for quality issues. Since it is impossible to do a partial build, the assembly plant and many of its associated supplier plants will be idle until the automaker can obtain sufficient stock to relaunch production. GM Strikes Out Against Usually Winless UAW as Mexican-Made Blazer Pulled from Opening Day Lineup in Detroit
As AutoInformed has covered extensively since November 2018 when GM said it will idle five plants in North America this year and early next year – affecting more than 6000 jobs – the Oshawa shut-out was minor league with major league and world-wide consequences. Continue reading

Whither US Vehicle Sales in 2021? Is 14 Million a Stretch?
AutoInformed puts it to you thus: This is the market price of failed ideologies grimly held by blind true-believers who ignore real data-backed consequences, scientists, epidemiologists, economists and political scientists to their own detriment – if not indeed their own self destruction.
