Honda Goes All in for Ohio EV Production
“We are establishing a new EV hub that will leverage the experience of our Ohio associates in areas including production, purchasing and product development. Ohio JV Battery Plant – Honda and LG Energy Solution
The two companies plan to begin construction in early 2023, in order to complete the new production facility by the end of 2024. The plant aims to have ~40GWh of annual production capacity as it starts mass production of pouch-type lithium-ion batteries by the end of 2025. Continue reading

Global Warming – New GM, Ford EV Plants Advance
GM Investing $760 Million in its Toledo, Ohio Propulsion Plant for EV drive unit production for Chevrolet Silverado EV, GMC Sierra EV and GMC HUMMER EVs. With today’s announcement, GM has invested more than $1.9 billion at Toledo since 2011. Ford broken ground at BlueOval City, a $5.6 billion investment in West Tennessee to build an all-new electric truck and advanced batteries for upcoming Ford and Lincoln vehicles. Ford Changes Supply Chain and Product Development Execs
It’s the latest example of the intricate routes automakers are negotiating in the transition to electric vehicles that is accelerating in the face of the dire effects of global warming, some of it caused by the transportation industries’ ongoing use of fossil fuels and what was in effect denial of the negative consequences of the exclusive use of fossil fuels. Ford’s challenge is to profitably maintain a line of both EVs from Ford Model e and so-called Ford Blue internal combustion vehicles that at some point – perhaps near at hand – are doomed. The wind will keep blowing as M-B with a partner plans to build a “ double-digit number of wind turbines by the middle of the decade. Mercedes-Benz is also planning a long-term power purchase agreement with a partner, equivalent to a “triple-digit million euros amount.” Continue reading
Honda and Hanwa Combine to Buy Battery Metals
Through the Hanwa partnership, Honda said it will ensure stable procurement in the medium to long term, of essential metals necessary for batteries such as nickel, cobalt and lithium, with the mined resources secured by Hanwa. It’s the latest move in what has become and EV battery ‘Gold Rush’ albeit centered on nickel, cobalt, and lithium. It remains problematic that China is well entrenched in EV research and development, manufacturing and various processes needed to support EVs. Continue reading

EPA Hydrofluorocarbon Rule Attacks Global Warming
