Without question advancements in technology and government regulations are prodding industry to reach these carbon reduction achievements. In model year 2021, hybrid vehicles reached a new high of 9% of all production. These vehicles can use a larger battery to recapture braking energy and provide power when necessary, allowing for a smaller, more efficiently operated engine. Continue reading
Biden Admin Making American Manufacturing Great Again
It is the latest fulfillment of the Biden Administration’s pledge to protecting American jobs, as well as the Constitution, in stark contrast to the last mis-administration. In Michigan, the Department of Energy also launched next steps in the Battery Workforce Initiative (BWI), a program geared toward supporting workforce training for good clean energy manufacturing jobs and the development of strategies to bring supply chains back home from overseas. Mercedes-Benz First Automaker Issuing Green Panda Bonds
A so-called green bond is a fixed-income financial instrument used to support climate-related or environmental projects. They may or not be tax free. The Green Panda Bond further reflects what Daimler said is the openness and innovation of the Chinese capital market in ESG sectors.
In our view it also shows how out of touch the Republican party of No Hope, aka nope) is on environmental and economic matters with its denial of climate change and so far futile attempts to kill such instruments in the US and punish corporate issuers. Continue reading
SEC Charges Goldman Sachs for Ignoring ESG Investment Policies, Procedures
To make the charges go away, GSAM agreed to pay a $4 million penalty. AutoInformed notes with no insider knowledge of this matter whatsoever or holdings of Goldman products to the best of its knowledge, that this is a minor parking ticket. Could it be that the SEC was perhaps lagging in its regulatory duties under the previous administration, and is now using this as a public relations ploy as it plays catch-up monitoring such investments? Death of the Diesel – CARB Tightens Off-Road Equipment Regs
The amendments will require fleets to phase-out use of the oldest and highest polluting off-road diesel vehicles in California; prohibit the addition of high-emitting vehicles to a fleet; and require the use of R99 or R100 renewable diesel in off-road diesel vehicles. These vehicles are the second largest mobile source of NOx in California, only exceeded by trucks on roads and highways, aka on-road trucks. Continue reading
California Leading Transition to Clean Fuels, Technologies
Since California is the fourth largest economy in the world*, it will have a tremendous impact on other US States and international economic blocks as the demand created for cleaner fuels and methods will be a so-called virtuous circle that encourages innovation and then adoption of what emerges for economies of scale. Big Oil Rebuff as Nel ASA, GM Unite on Renewable Hydrogen
A PEM electrolyzer and a fuel cell are largely based on the same principles. A PEM electrolyzer uses electricity and water to produce hydrogen and oxygen, while a fuel cell reverses the process, using hydrogen and oxygen to produce electricity and water. Continue reading
President Biden at COP 27 Pledges US Leadership on Solving the Climate Crisis
The bold initiatives ended a week when the Climate Change and Election Denying Republican party , the GOPe-nope-dopes, were thumped in US mid-term elections that they and their propaganda outlets falsely predicted would be a red tsunami. Continue reading

Stellantis Hordain to Build Hydrogen-powered, Electric and Combustion Engine Commercial Vehicles
Starting in 2024, the site Hordain will have a mini-mass production capacity of 5,000 vehicles per year of hydrogen-powered utility vehicles. This Stellantis said in a release reaffirms its goal to be the first mass-produced manufacturer of hydrogen-powered utility van vehicles. There is also a labor relations aspect to the move. Stellantis has 12 industrial sites in France, and unlike Ford Motor Company it has a stated “ethical desire not to separate its electric and internal combustion engine businesses, to engage all its employees in the energy transition.” Continue reading
EPA Hydrofluorocarbon Rule Attacks Global Warming
The proposal follows the Senate’s bipartisan ratification of the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol, a global agreement to phase down HFCs and avoid up to 0.5-degrees Centigrade of global warming by the end of this century. It’s the latest step in assuring US Global Leadership on fighting Global Warming and Extreme Climate Change, which are people, jobs and planet killing. Continue reading

Mercedes-Benz Outlines EV Drive Systems Production Sites
The new Mercedes-Benz powertrain production network was achieved following what were likely dicey discussions with German employee representatives. Mercedes says this resulted in agreements to further increase flexibility and efficiency at the various locations, paving the way for securing the future of the plants. In line with the implementation of the Mercedes-Benz Business Plan, the company is investing a mid-single-digit billion-euro amount in its European powertrain production locations. Thus far worker protest or strikes are apparently non-existent. Continue reading →
