Two Petroleum Suppliers to Pay $1M For Clean Air Violations

The fuel violation was discovered during a routine sampling audit of an import marine vessel at the Port of Los Angeles. California Air Resources Board inspectors determined approximately 11 million gallons of motor fuel imported by George E. Whoops! Now Ford Motor Has Emissions Problems

Ford says it is now taking several actions, including hiring an unnamed outside firm to investigate the vehicle road load specifications used in Ford testing and applications to certify emissions and fuel economy. NASA Satellite Data Show Pollution Controls Work in SoCal

The study, which focused on the four major components of PM2.5, was recently published in the journal “Atmospheric Environment.” This type of pollution denotes particulate matter that is less than 2.5 microns in diameter, or about 3/100ths the diameter of a human hair. PM2.5 is especially burdensome in California and accounts for the greatest percentage of health impacts attributable to air pollution. Continue reading

Sierra Club Michigan Opposes CAFE Cuts

In January under the Obama administration, the EPA finalized its proposed decision on fuel efficiency standards, originally set in 2012. The decision kept the fuel economy goals at their current level through year 2025. This decision came after a technical assessment report, a 30-day comment period, a proposed decision, and a second 30-day comment period.
