Dealers who enroll in the program have committed to following the CDC guidelines and practices upon enrollment. They should not inject or drink bleach of course. Continue reading

China Sales Propel Buick to Global Sales Record
China sales were the only reason the Buick brand was kept by U.S. Treasury officials while they were killing Pontiac and Hummer during the 2009 taxpayer financed GM bankruptcy reorganization. Continue reading
GM U.S. Sales Up 16% in January, a Bit More than Market Gain
The strength of the market itself was surprising. January 2013 was 14% higher than last year 27% higher than January 2011 and roughly 50% higher than January 2010 – an amazing recovery trend that should allow leveraged automakers to print money, including GM as 2012 results are released in February. General Motors U.S. April Sales Down 8% in a Growing Market
General Motors Co. (NYSE: GM) today reported April sales of 213,387 vehicles in the United States, a decline of 8% in a month that looks to be running at more than 14 million units on a seasonally adjusted basis, an increase of at least 12%. Buick one again posted a decline, this time -25% at 15,450 vehicles, with the mid-size Regal off -37% at 2,850. The compact and less expensive Verona sold 3,000 sedans. This begs the question whether Buick in particularly, perhaps General Motors overall, has been too aggressive in raising prices to boost profitability. The brands aren’t strong enough and the competition remains formidable. Once again Chrysler posted a 20% sales increase to 141,000 vehicles in April, and my bet is GM and Ford are where the growth is coming from to a large degree. Continue reading

Buick 2013 Encore Teaser Photo – Will it Play in China?
The real challenge for all new Buicks going forward is not whether the vehicle will play in Peoria, but rather how it plays in Shanghai? Buick sold a record of 59,763 vehicles in China in November – more than 5 times what it sold in the U.S. Little wonder the head of GM advance design in China is now Chinese. Continue reading

World Car – 2011 Buick Regal
Buick Regal sales since a late summer U.S. introduction – 9,000 to date- and 2,000 sales in November are a start, but honestly more time is needed to see if the sedan is an enduring success at the GM division that U.S. Treasury Department officials wanted to kill during GM’s forced and well earned bankruptcy.
