Is the Tesla Bubble About to Burst?

Tesla Loses Money Again During 2013. Stock Market Bullish
The darling of automotive stock speculators electric vehicle maker Tesla posted a yearly loss of -$74 million on revenue of more than $2 billion during 2013, compared with a -$396.2 million loss on $413.3 million in sales in 2012. The stock is trading at record levels of above $200 per share given the revenue increase, and with the company promising to increase it yet again during 2014. Continue reading
Testosterone and Tesla – Men Love Them
As with all things associated with Tesla, AutoInformed remains skeptical about a company that has never showed a profit since its inception except in Q1 of 2013. For the first six months of this year, Tesla lost $1,916 per car based on a net loss of $19.254 million from sales of 10,000 Model S and a few Roadster EVs, which was -$0.17 a share. With Tesla stock trading in the $190 range for a book value of $5 a share, buyer beware, seller rejoice. Continue reading

Tesla Motors Delivers First Model S EVs at $100,000
Tesla Motors delivered its first electric Model S sedan over the weekend at its factory in Fremont, California. The financially challenged company – it has never earned a profit – says it will build 5,000 electric vehicles by the end of 2012, followed by 20,000 cars in 2013. Tesla claims it has already received more than 10,000 reservations worldwide for Model S. Continue reading
Toyota and Tesla to Build RAV4 EV at Toyota’s Woodstock, Ontario Production Facility, Not California
It was a blow to former NUMMI members in Fremont, California whose UAW plant was shut down by Toyota last year. It was hoped that production of the RAV4 EV would go into the plant when Tesla bought it in 2010. Toyota owns a stake in Tesla, and Tesla previously said that a Model S electric sedan will go into production at NUMMI sometime during 2012. Tesla’s latest financial results showed a $59 million loss for Q2. Continue reading
