Land Speed Record Breaker Craig Breedlove Passes at 86

Norman Craig Breedlove Sr. passed away yesterday, the Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association  said today in SEMA news update. Breedlove was elected into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America (1993), Dry Lakes Racing Hall of Fame (1995), International Motorsports Hall of Fame (2000) and the Automotive Hall of Fame (2009). He also earned life membership in the Bonneville 200 MPH Club (1963). Continue reading

EPA Wants More Health Protection for Commercial Sterilization

“EPA’s number one priority is protecting people’s health and safety, and we are committed to taking decisive action that’s informed by the best available science,” said EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan. “These proposals build on EPA’s extensive outreach to communities across the nation and reflect close coordination among key federal partners. Together they would significantly reduce worker and community exposure to harmful levels of ethylene oxide. EPA Proposes to Reduce Toxic Chemical Plant Air Pollution

EPA’s proposal would modernize several regulations that apply to chemical plants, including plants that make synthetic organic chemicals, and regulations that apply to plants that make polymers such as neoprene. The proposed updates would reduce 6053 tons of air toxics emissions each year, which are known or suspected to cause cancer and other serious health effects. Those reductions include a 58 ton per year reduction in ethylene oxide (EtO) and a reduction of 14 tons per year in chloroprene. Continue reading

John Dion to be Chief Transformation Officer at Struggling Ford

Ford Motor reported a disappointing 2022 full-year net loss of $2.0 billion. During Q4 of 2022 Ford posted an adjusted EBIT $10.4 billion, and operating cash flow $1.2 billion for the quarter, $6.9 billion for the year. This was in stark contrast to GM, which reported a record $14.5 billion in earnings for 2022. BMW Manufacturing Spartanburg Supports 43,000 SC Jobs

“With great sadness Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announced the passing of TMC Honorary Chairman Shoichiro Toyoda this morning in Nagoya. Shoichiro Toyoda died at 4:48 pm on 14 February 2023 of heart failure. He is survived by Akio Toyoda his eldest son. Mercedes Donates Emergency Earthquake Aid in Turkey, Syria

Mercedes-Benz Group said in Stuttgart today that it is donating one million euros to the German Red Cross (GRC) for the people in Turkey and Syria affected by the severe earthquakes. The donation will be used for emergency humanitarian aid on the ground in order to quickly provide the suffering population with the bare necessities.
