Heavy Duty – Mitsubishi Fuso and Hino Motors to Merge
How this works under various anti-trust laws and regulations is unclear to AutoInformed. Details on the scope and nature of the collaboration including the name, location, shareholding ratio and corporate structure of the new holding company will be decided during the next ~18 months. The parties predict signing of definitive agreements in the first quarter of 2024. They aim to close the transaction by the end of 2024. Toyota to Build Lexus ES 350 at Georgetown, Kentucky Plant

Toyota Ousts GM from Global Auto Sales Leadership. VW Third
Toyota Motor regained global sales leadership in 2012 ousting GM by selling 9.75 million vehicles. GM’s sales were 9.29 million vehicles with Volkswagen Group closing on GM in third place at 9.07 million vehicles for the year. Toyota had led global sales from 2008 until 2010 when natural disaster induced production disruptions, the result of a tragic earthquake in Japan and flooding in Thailand, halted its growth. Mazda to Make a Tiny Toyota in Mexico for Sale in North America
Mazda Motor Corporation today announced that a plant in Mexico, currently under construction, would produce a Toyota-brand vehicle for sale in North America. The sub-compact will be based on the new Mazda2, and will enter production during the summer of 2015. Toyota Makes $3.2 Billion Because of Sales Increases, Cost Cutting
Toyota Motor Corporation in Japan this morning reported Q2 Japanese fiscal year revenues of ¥5.4 trillion ($68.4 billion *), up 18.2% and operating income of ¥340 billion ($4.3 billion) vs. ¥75.4 million last year. Ford Cuts Summer Shutdown in North America as Lack of Capacity is Hurting Sales and Share in Recovering Market
Ford Motor’s U.S. sales decreased 5% in April to 179,660 vehicles in a market that was up 2.3%, in part because its plants were running flat out. Ford is now facing a strong challenge from Number Three Toyota Motor Sales, which reported April sales of 178,044, up 12% y-o-y.
