Washington Diddles. India Puts Billions into Securing EV Jobs
This is not an isolated occurrence. Electric vehicles, the so-called hydrogen economy and connected cars are the future of the planet and high paying employment. Virtually all major industrial nations are promoting policies and incentives to become major forces where no automaker dares to go alone. Except the dis-United States it seems. Even Senator Manchin’s next Maserati that he drives to his yacht will likely be an EV. Built where? The question facing Washington politicians of his ilk is simple: Do you care about the people in your district? Continue reading

The program will first be made available to employees living in the Kanto region at the start of fiscal year 2022 at the end of March. Recalls – Unintended Acceleration on Hyundai Ioniq EVs
During operation, Ioniqs may enter a “fail-safe” mode causing the “EV Ready” lamp to flash, accompanied with reduced acceleration and overall power output. While in this “fail-safe” mode, a slow, unintended acceleration incident can occur following full accelerator pedal release, if according to Hyundai, a specific set of sequences are met. The sequence steps being (1) the accelerator pedal is rapidly cycled at the moment the “fail-safe” mode is initially engaged, (2) followed by a sustained period of 100% accelerator pedal application and lastly (3) an abrupt release of the accelerator pedal. The braking and steering systems are fully functional during the “fail-safe” mode. Continue reading

GM Cuts More Deals on Materials, Factories for EV Motors
Lurking in the background of this issue is a larger national security problem that sees China spending twice as much on research and development as the US. A bill to restore and increase US government sponsored scientific R&D has passed the Senate but is being held up by infighting among Democrats in the House of Representatives, which is representative of our ongoing politically-based dysfunctional government. See David Leonard in The New York Times this morning. Continue reading
