Stellantis Pursuing Share Buy Backs?

Stellantis N.V. (NYSE: STLA) said today that pursuant to its Share Buyback Program* announced on 15 February 2024, covering up to €3 billion to be executed in the open market, it has signed a share buyback agreement for the third tranche of its Program with an investment firm that will make its trading decisions concerning the timing of purchases independently of Stellantis. FAA Okays Automated Commercial Drone Flights

The FAA said today that it has authorized commercial drone flights without visual observers in the same Dallas-area airspace. In a first for U.S. aviation, Zipline International and Wing Aviation can now deliver packages while it’s claimed that  their drones safely separated  from other air traffic using so called Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management (UTM) technology.

Previously, when operating drones, the drone pilot must be able to always see the unmanned aircraft. However, what the FAA claims are new advancements in air traffic technology and procedures are making these “Beyond Visual Line of Sight” (BVLOS) flights routine. Considerable lobbying pressure no doubt is in play. The FAA budget was threatened by Republicans last year in latest fiscal year fiasco. BMW Classic Partners Party in Dielsdorf August 10th

The process of certifying BMW Group authorized retailers and workshops as BMW Group Classic partners began in 2019. There are now 148 international partners. Support provided by BMW Group Classic headquarters in Munich for the local partners covers its full range of services, from assistance with technical issues, help with procurement of replacement parts, as well as re-manufacturing of specialist tools to provision of specific data/information from the BMW Group Archive and elsewhere. J.D. Power 2024 US APEAL Study Improves Slightly

“Traditional manufacturers have listened to the Voice of the Customer,” said Frank Hanley, senior director of auto benchmarking at J.D. Power. “They’re launching enhanced vehicles that are more in line with what customers want, including improved interior storage and higher quality materials, as well as ensuring features have ease of use. Mattia Binotto Returns to F1 as CEO at Sauber Motorsport

“I am delighted that we have been able to recruit Mattia Binotto for our ambitious Formula 1 project,“ said Gernot Döllner, CEO of AUDI AG. “With his extensive experience of more than 25 years in Formula 1, he will undoubtedly be able to make a decisive contribution for Audi.“ Following his university degree in mechanical engineering at EPFL in Switzerland, the Italian immediately joined the F1 test team of Ferrari in 1995. He subsequently had various positions, from chief engineer to manager of the engine department and technical director. Biden Administration – $1.6B in Semiconductor Manufacturing

The US Department of Commerce today published a Notice of Intent (NOI) to open a competition for new research and development (R&D) activities that it said will establish and accelerate domestic capacity for semiconductor advanced packaging. The CHIPS for America program predicts that up to $1.6 billion in funding will go to five R&D areas. These were first outlined in the vision for the National Advanced Packaging Manufacturing Program (NAPMP). Through potential cooperative agreements, CHIPS for America would make several awards of ~$150 million federal funding per award in each research area. Continue reading

Stellantis Updates Circular Economy Initiatives at IARC

NHTSA Eases CAFE Regs For 2027-2031 Model Years

Milestones – Three Millionth Subaru Outback

The first-generation Outback, was a more expensive variant of the Legacy wagon, with two-tone paint, white-letter tires, large fog lights, and a raised roof. Equipped with a 2.5-liter Boxer engine, symmetrical all-wheel drive and 7.5 inches of ground clearance, it was a crossover support utility of sorts. During 30 years of production, Outback has won many awards and has been an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick for 16 years running (2009-2024).
