Ford Recalls for Diesel Pumps, Seat Belts, Rearview Cameras

Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) is conducting recalls for more than 252,000 vehicles for a variety of safety defects including electrical system programming management and manufacturing assembly errors. The largest involves the loss of the rearview camera image and advanced driver assistance (ADAS) systems, including pre-collision assist, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring on model year 2022-2025 Lincoln Navigator, 2024-2025 Lincoln Nautilus, 2025 Lincoln Aviator and Explorer vehicles.

“The Image Processing Module A (IPMA) may experience a computational overload when tracking a high volume of moving objects in dense vehicle and pedestrian traffic environments. This overload can trigger a module reset; in certain instances, multiple module resets occurring over multiple ignition cycles can lead to a persistent loss of functionality,” Ford said in the mandatory safety defect recall filing made public by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) this morning. “Experts from Oxford Archaeology, one of Europe’s largest and longest-established independent archaeology and heritage practices, discovered the remains of a Roman well during the closing stages of a six-month investigation, following earlier geophysical surveying and exploratory trenching. The well would have stood seven tiers high and was constructed from 28 timbers. The team identified evidence that eight timbers had previously been used as they displayed mortices, tenons and chamfered edges. Continue reading

U.S. New Vehicle Sales Forecast Flat in March

Ken Zino of AutoInformed.com on U.S. New Vehicle Sales Forecast Flat in March

Click for more.

The U.S. new-vehicle sales pace in March is forecast to finish essentially unchanged from February, Cox Automotive said today. The sales pace (SAAR) in March is projected to be lower by nearly 12% year-over-year. However  the annual decline is mostly reflective of a burst of pre-tariff buying that pulled demand forward a year ago. March 2025 at 17.9 million sales was a four-year high.  New-vehicle sales volume in March is forecast at 1.37 million units, down 14.2% from the tariff-driven surge seen in March 2025, but higher than February by 14.3%. March is traditionally a strong month for new-vehicle sales.*

“Sales are no longer swinging wildly month to month, but growth is also harder to come by,” said Charlie Chesbrough, senior economist at Cox Automotive. “Affordability remains the central challenge for the industry, and that is limiting the market’s ability to expand beyond the mid-15-million range.”** Continue reading

Consumers, Not Regulators Now Rule EV Market

Ken Zino of AutoInformed.com on Consumers, Not Regulators Now Rule EV Market

Click for more.

The Alliance for Automotive Innovation (AAI) today released its analysis of the U.S. electric vehicle market for Q4 and full-year 2025. EV sales in Q4 lowest since first quarter of 2022; down year-over-year. The market reflected a major shift to actual consumer demand free of the influence of now eliminated EV incentives under the Trump mis-administration in AutoInformed’s view. Consumer satisfaction with and demand for electrified vehicles remain considerable and too large for automakers to ignore, now matter the follies of Trump appointed idolaters/regulators. Hybrids in particular remain a strong and growing segment. (Read AutoInformed.com on: Magna Increases Its Hybrid Drive Offerings, as well as other relevant stories below)*

“Despite a modest uptick in ICE market share in Q4, the longer-term trend remains clear. From 2016 through 2025, traditional ICE share steadily declined,” AAI said. “In 2016, ICE vehicles accounted for more than 97% of all light-duty sales; by 2025, year-to-date share had fallen to 72.9%, a cumulative decline of 24.2 pp (including a 3.1 pp drop from 2024 alone).
